Another trick worked for me but you need at least a few grand to start with. What I did was open a new bank account for auto deposit from work while I only spent from another account with 3 grand in it. Keep spending from that account until it can be closed empty. Be careful, no stupid spending just what you must have to keep going. Buy the time that account is empty the other had 3 paychecks worth of untouched deposits in it $ 4800 just sitting there doing nothing. Not sure what would happen if this process was repeated over and over – if possible. Why it works is anybody's guess.

I tried to save every week. In 2013 i put around this amount to one side. Then i had 200, as Luck would have it something went wrong with the car. 200 gone, I tried again and again and again, every time something took that money. I stopped trying to save.
If it's in the bank I'll swipe my card and not think about it, BUT i do pull out $50 a month in dimes and put it in a jug. I don't spend change, so i let it build up, until there's a need for it, then i take it to the change machine at the bank

When I started a job 5 years ago, I opened an online bank account and transferred $100/week into that account. This past year, I was laid off and that was one of the best moves I ever did.
My mom did this! But she saved 25 every pay period. She saved 50 inside envelope in between her Bible. She has never had a problem regarding money.

I use savings tins, any money I have left over from budgeting goes in. I open it at Christmas for gifts etc. It's usually a huge surprise because I can't see it until I open it. 🪙💷💷 🇬🇧
