Most of us, in order to interact in a positive way in any type of culture or society have to figure out ways to fit in. Most of us don't go around being ourselves especially in different settings. The way you act with your partner versus friends, versus people you dont know, etc. we have to adapt. That is just the way society works and that is why certain cultures or groups don't fit in.
No matter the topic or field, Anton has always been at the top 😂
At this point I’m tired to much
She's actually not wrong, and her main advice, "shut the f**k up" is spot on. As a racial or gender minority in corporate or government you will always be more visible and noticed. If that's so, then if you value your job be the one who's quiet, competent and ready to help out – you'll be seen as an asset and a valued colleague.
As a black man who spent 40 years in finance the last 15 in the C – suite I can tell you there is a finance look. It has nothing to do with racer gender but there is a definite look: blues, grays, muted colors. No flash, no personality. It’s all data and interpretation; when you reach the director level, you can have a bit of personality not until. That’s simply the financial uniform. If you can’t conform to it you’re never going to get a job in finance.
You hit the nail on the head. This is a lovely girl. She will do well.
Had a 22 year old guy in for an interview, and he said one of his best skills is being an alpha male.
I immediately ended the interview and told him that no one will take him seriously going around saying that.
Neurodivergent is supposed to mean that someone is "wired differently" as in ADHD and autism. I am both, diagnosed late, and I have had to mask it my entire life. Masking is necessary to be able to make a living in most professions whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent.
Sorry, Anton, I agree with the ladies. The hiring process is basically a fake. I'm a white guy and have run into same problems. The boss does not want a person who thinks out of the box. "Do your job and then come over here and suck my dick or lick my pussy. I'm not interested in how your ideas can improve the company." I was in the Army, worked blue collar jobs, white collar jobs and professional jobs. I have worked for Irish guys, black women, Latin men and gay people. It's always the same. Most bosses are narcissistic. They are not to be trusted and they don't trust you. If you want to retain your individuality, don't join a corporation. 😑
If you did not create the company that you are applying to work at then yes, you are one of the sheep so if you want to be the Shepherd and have all these multiple, whatever’s then go create a company that caters to that type of personality and it may or may not be successful in the marketplace
Of course, if you aren't a team player, you won't get offered a position. Get a job at McDonald's, lady.
“Shut up” no truer words were ever spoken! 😅
@antondaniels we don't label ourselves as neurodivergent. I'm Autistic & neurologically my brain is wired differently & I process things differently. Its hard for me to express my thoughts & ideas but a deep dive into the subject could be good for you & your followers who are neurotypical.
Anton, I love your advice especially to young adult. They should watch your videos and apply your advice to their life.
It’s all a game. You’re competing with others for a job. Play the game. Play to win. Understand what it is. It’s nothing personal. Take the advice. Get the job.
And that's true my father used to have a hard time getting a job because he looked mean
A wise woman told me that once you're looks go (get older), it's over.
Everyone interviewing for that job has your skill set. There’s a minimum requirement for that position and everybody that walks through the door has that minimum requirement.
People need to live in a city that a cultural fit
I work in corporate and I’m not having to be fake I am comfortably myself.
I am so sick of the word "neurodivergent". People are really overusing it.
The new definition of neurodivergent : a person who can use it as an excuse when they do not succeed or are way too lazy to put any real effort in, but at the same time they can play the “neurodivergent” card and thus another “victim” is born. Simple.
From what she said, I doubt it is her LOOK… it is her personality and mannerisms. It is not about intimidation, it is about (as stated) avoiding PROBLEMS. It is about avoiding ISSUES. When people fall back on "they are intimidated" it is lazy and incomplete. And in most cases falling on "because I was a women" or "because I am black", is also lazy and vastly incomplete.
Fantastic discussion
Excellent analysis
Thank you Sir
Well said!!
I always love listening to you
I agree
This second woman irritates me. I think most blacks have experience and exposure in the PERFORMING arts, beginning as children. I'm sorry but you have to perform at work and not only the job, but in getting along with people. Sometimes you have to perform in a way that appears to be in a friendly manner in order to get along with people, with all kinds of people. I assume that her definition of neurodivergent means having a brain that processes, learns, and behaves differently from the standard societal norm. I assume she's including people that have A-D-H-D, A-D-D, dyslexia, OCD, autism, etc. IF that's what she means, the medical community says, "It's not your fault, but it IS your problem." The concept the medical community embraces is the idea that neurological differences are natural human variations rather than broken traits or diseases that need to be "fixed". However, the workplace doesn't care! Understanding neurodivergence focuses on shifting the conversation toward providing proper support, celebrating unique ways of thinking, and building inclusive environments. There are schools and and workplaces that have that. It is up to the employee to access and to use those services so that they DO THEIR job! If you don't want the school you attend or your workplace to know, seek outside help and perform the tasks necessary tasks to get your degree or in the workplace to DO YOUR JOB!!!
I want to know WHAT is she doing that is militant? A hair style? I agree that workplaces don't want problems. My career has been in administration. I don't want problems. I don't want people that look like they need to retire either.
Bun, glasses, and a smile….needed..you need the personality
Unpopular Opinion: Why should she placate to their employer's insecurities and "play games" just to get a job? You mean to tell me she needs to brownnose, be phony, bow down, kiss the ring, "shrink to fit" and "dummy down" just to get along in a toxic workplace culture? I'm not saying an interviewee / employee has to be nasty, mean, rigid, anal, non-team player, etc. But people should be able to be themselves and serve the company's mission, best interests and bottom line without being a problem on the job. But that's just it. You will be a problem on the job if you don't play their "reindeer games." Hard work and meritocracy mean nothing anymore. It's about politics, being liked, and "fittin' in as you get in," even being an incompetent or less-qualified employee. And, I've seen people do everything that was "suggested" and they still were not accepted, disliked, and still lost or didn't get the job. She might need to go into business for herself…
"Militant" is not a quality that goes over well in job interviews or in any aspect of personal interactions for that matter.
NO AI took ur job ,,,, get on the pole
Just the way she talks turns me off. You want to be friendly and personable, which she doesn’t seem to be. It’s definitely not about looks.
EVERYONE wants a friendly coworker….EVERYONE.
As an employer the most aggressive applicants I’ve interviewed have all been black women. They come off as extremely entitled and you just know that hiring them would turn into a HR nightmare. Maybe take that giant chip off of your shoulder and you might get somewhere in life.
An asshole is a asshole doesn’t matter the color it’s the aditude
Ngl, I still wanna see her nekkid.
Fatigued
I started wearing my glasses, slowed down the way I speak and smiled and joked more. And I landed a job pretty quickly after that and this was after two years of interviewing.
No one told black people that DEI was only for white women who now own college and entry level coperate jobs
I don't believe in the term 'neuro divergent'.
It's just a way of people saying that they are a shitty person and that everyone needs to revolve around them.
