Hey everyone! I have a child with autism who sometimes gets distracted when we’re out, so I’ve been thinking about trying a location tracking app. I’m hoping it might help me worry a little less. Do you think these apps are actually worth using?

My mom started as a bank teller in the early '60s. By the time I was born, she had worked up to assistant mgr. She started both my brother & me w our own savings at 5. We would get $$ for bringing in wood for our wood burning stove (no, we didn't live off grid. We were raised on LI in NY), raking the yard, etc. Our dad worked for the LIRR and would trade out the foreign coins and prove his drawer w US $$ or trade the pennies with silver.
Well, those pennies were our allowance. Usually between $5-8 a week. Whatever we could wrap by Mom's Friday late night deposit (remember those days?? No open branches on Saturday and NO atm😮) was ours. I had a Chrismas club and a separate savings and then I kept part of it for Sunday school and to have on hand for when we walked to the 7-11😊.
I already knew how to count by 2s but I found I could wrap the pennies quicker if I counted by 3s😂. I went from depositing about $6 to about $9 or $10. In first grade, I put my own 10" b&w Panasonic tv on layaway. No more fighting over cartoons or Soul Train on the 4 channels 😂. I bought my own speed bike in 4th grade & have since bought my own clothes, cars, etc.
I've been a saver ever since. As I grew older and learned more, I diversified and am still learning.
I've taught my kids these things but there's always something that can improve.
And I love the caveat to give ourselves grace.

Its fucked up that there are so many people who do have a partner who do damn near nothing. Might as well already be single at that point.
