Super expensive area on take home combined salary of 80k. But they would make less money in Ohio or somewhere like that. I hope his brother will take them in. I am four mins in and I hope they have a kid or someone who will help them.
This guy inspires me to make changes in my 30s and help give my kids a better example for financial responsibility, seriously grateful he applied and was chosen. Strong man right there

I will do whatever in my power to make sure this isn’t me or my children. God bless you Ted I hope you find a way to make this work
2nd time watching this. Did you bring up the state pension plan? Working 14 years he would've been vested and should have a monthly payment he may already be eligible for. TRS is designed to supplement social security for state employees
Why did this guy get so defensive about his daughter? I got my first undergrad degree in my mid-20s and was working full time. Didn't get a penny from my parents. Didn't expect it, didn't ask. She should be ashamed of herself.
This is just sad. How did you and your wife get to this point at your age??? What were you thinking in your 40s and 50s??? Why did you continue to live above your means even after bankruptcy?!?? No sympathy… You dug your grave. As my dear departed Dad used to say, "What the hell is wrong with you????"
First of all, I discovered your channel a month ago and man has it opened my eyes. Thanks for the entertainment and knowledge as well as help you offer.
I went through bankruptcy in 2023 at 37 years old. It's scary to see where I could have ended up if I never learned my lesson. I'm still paying the price, my retirement is a fraction of where it should be and I'm still building an emergency fund, but I have become so much better in every other aspect of my financial life. I have a single cashback credit card that is used only for groceries that gets paid in full every month (3% cashback on groceries, so actually saves me a little money since I'm not letting it accrue interest). I'm living within my means and saving every dollar I can, looking for opportunities to make more money, and controlling my spending. It was a huge wake up call for me, so it's disappointing to see that it isn't the same for others.
You should not wait to 67 or 70 I think it is to take your maximum benefits,do the math, it doesn’t work out more really. My husband and I are both taking it at 62!!!
This resembles my mother- 88- still working just to be able to afford food and little things. Nobody ever taught her about credit cards. On her own since 1976. So many know nothing in their older years about how credit cards work.
He and his wife are addicted to purchasing credit cards and spending on BS. If he does not change he dies with all those unpaid credit cards and a mounting of det. Who will pay for that after his death? His kid?
There is a certain type of man who literally believes he will not get old, and will never die. Usually, he was the Golden Child. I have a friend who is 65, and who, every time he sees a picture of himself says: "How did I get this old? This is not me."
Why I have no sympathy for this guy he should be flat out ashamed of himself claiming bankruptcy is one thing but then going and just continuing that bad behavior after you screwed all the creditors is terrible. With that comment, I also have to say I don’t have a lot of sympathy for his current creditors because anyone who extended somebody credit after a bankruptcy like that at that age showing that level of your responsibility kind of gets what they deserve . This guy does not have an option except to claim bankruptcy. He’s not gonna live a life of austerity at 62 work 50 hours a week and grind away just to get rid of this debt. He just doesn’t have time on his side. He’ll die doing it.
In the UK if you go bankrupt it's extremely difficult to get any credit so soon after bankruptcy. You have to use a basic bank account (no cheque book, no overdraft, no tap and pay), an official receiver looks at your income and out goings and gives you an amount that you need to pay towards your debt for 36 months. You legally have to declare bankruptcy to any creditor for 6 years before your slate is wiped clean. During that time you are expected to manage only on your income, and it's usually a good way to get your life back on track and rebuild your finances. It's harsh but absolutely necessary and beneficial if you learn from it and manage your money properly.
haha I really like this dude, Caleb:" you have more credit cards than anyone on the show" Him: "OOOH! Do I…. (realized that's a bad thing)" he 100% was gonna ask for a prize.
After watching this.. .my mind is officially Blown. I don't know how Caleb can even keep it together. This level of fiscal irresponsibility … man.. I can't even process this. 💥 💥
at 60 he still has $122k on their mortgage… my wife and i accelerated our terms to get it paid off within 15 years. i'll be 43 when we pay off our house. my parents immigrated us here to Canada when they were 40 and their house is almost paid off (~$30k left) at 65.
The is exactly how my grandmother from mom's side is. She is in her mid 80s and its exactly as Caleb says: My mum basically stops her life to take care of her. I help my mum as much as I can, but the longer I am witnessing this day to day, the more disgust I feel towards my grandmother. She spent her entire life literally partying, her biggest asses it pair of golden earrings. Not even kidding.
This guy needs to be in counseling. When he says “I don’t know” he probably doesn’t. Believe it or not, a lack of dopamine is notorious for causing this problem.
Seeing people like this… Life HAD to have been easier in the past. Dude has no brain. And you will have positive worth via the house you paid $45 for. Realistically you should have lost that and the dirt cheap mortgage in the BK. Unreal and undeserved every penny of equity in the house and car should have gone to creditors. THIS is the problem with the market and country. A literal thief and parasite. Boomers like this will tell you to look for a 2nd job door to door on foot. Maybe he should try that? It's about all he can afford. I think the sympathy is totally unwarranted and he got a major pass relative to other guests.

Somehow, even after a long conversation in this episode, we uncovered EVEN MORE wild stuff about his past in today's Post Show: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLe_q9axMaeTbjN0hy1Z9xA/join
Mohela had a platform change and loans went on forebearance during the shift. Might be that.
I’m 34 minutes into this episode, and honestly, I love this guys personality and wish I knew him in real life lol
You should bring on a psychologist. Cas, I know with me and my Add, I don't associate future pain with current actions.
8 mins in and this is giving me total anxiety

Good show but stop ringing the bell so much please.
This is the first guest ive seen that actually comes across as likeable. I feel really sad for him, what a frightening place to end up in life.

The "Welcome to Las Vegas" shirt might be a clue.

This episode broke my heart, but my god, he got reeeeal mad after Caleb talked about his daughter. 😬
We really need an update on this guy @CalebHammer

I imagine this is the average government worker

This is absolutely scary.
Good ol' Ted shows up to discuss his finances wearing a 'Las Vegas' t-shirt…
Not the best wardrobe choice on this day…

This episode was a wake up call for me
This was the funniest show I have ever watched. And so sad at the same time!

I respect this man but I think the wife should be there and take responsibility as well and work a system together.
That's nothing at 21 an hour. Jesus
This dude is so broke even the Nigerian Prince doesn't want his help

@CelebHammer – Great job with this one. It must have been tough. I think you were helpful and he's better after this conversation.

3:49 black sheep of the family excuse and all that is fine in your 20s. You are almost 70. It’s all mindset.
This guy needs to be in counseling. When he says “I don’t know” he probably doesn’t. Believe it or not, a lack of dopamine is notorious for causing this problem.
This guy is dumb… Just wow
That daughter likely is the same as this guy. It is crazy how similar to my parents my sister and I are when it comes to handling money.
