Quite possibly the best Financial YouTuber there is. Superbly clear advice and laced with understated British humour at its finest. I am (a very young) 61 and I so wish this kind of thing had been around when I was young, I'm now playing catch up but the tips, guidance and encouragement Damien provides are priceless. Thanks mate, you deserve every success!
"SIPP's" i know this isn't the topic but you've made me pull my finger out. Invest engine have no fees on sipps for Vanguard all world but I can't make employer contributions as a ltd company. Do you have your sipp direct to Vanguard. Interactive investing fee seems high as I'm just started a sipp. Any non financial advice would be great.
Hi. I wonder by this tax year 2024-2025 after taking my salary, take the rest of the money as dividend from my business bank account and put them in my ISA account. This money will be charged to 8.75% provided that that it will not exceed £50k. But is it worth it to pay the 8.75% tax while the interest in ISA is just around 4 to 5% only
(sorry if this is somwhere in the comments already) Can someone drop more info on taht self-assesment or email to HMRC? I looked at their page and self assesment seems only to be for self-employed? Can someone drop a link where should I go, email to contact? Thank you.
They are not intending to change the tax-free allowance which mean that many people on State Pension will go above it and therefore have to pay tax. If they decide to means-test it, you may receive nothing.
Brilliant video thanks. I was lucky enough to pay off my first mortgage at 40. Best investment I ever made. I'm now 72 and my house is worth at least 20 times what I paid and I can always downsize if I need more cash to live on and my kids will get a good boost when I go.
Wow, this is the first video I have seen on this channel. I have learnt so much already. I am so happy to find someone who doesn't waffle and drag stuff out to the degree of boredom. Much appreciated.
Relief at source only includes 20% relief!? They've made that really unclear. On self assessment when asking about pensions it specifically says "do not include contributions taken directly from your payslip"!
Thanks, very useful video! Prob worth mentioning crystallising any unrealised loss to offset realised gains in the year (if the latters over 3k anyway)
Thanks Damien for decent volume level. It is a bug bear of ours YouTubers are terrible at their audio levels (it's not that hard!); Often too low because they assume viewers only watch on their phones.

Also I should have said in the video that Marriage allowance is only available to basic rate tax payers.
Hi Damien, do you have a short video about the salary sacrifice that I could send to me employer? @damientalksmoney

We got a wild Damien beach feature before tax year 2025-2026
✅️another one ticketed off the bucket list
Damien, great video. Is Peoples pension a RAS scheme? It says its Automatic but then below says you should do a self assesment?

They are trying to call the State Pension a benefit. That way they can means-test it. You may never be able to receive any of what you pay in.
When you ring they take your details and then told someone will ring you back. I don't even know of they will ring me back or when😢
5:04 this tune haunts me in my dreams.

I’m not very confident that state pensions will be a thing by the time I hit 70

Thank you for this brilliant video, how do I claim my relief at source?

Thanks to this I discovered I can fill 2 years of NI contributions for £300 which I will be doing. Awesome video!
